Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center has an impressive history of participating in national research efforts that have incorporated the resources and skills of its healthcare professionals working closely with regional physicians.
In 1998, Avera McKennan made a commitment to expand its involvement in clinical drug and medical device research by establishing a separate department for research.
This department, the Avera Research Institute, is devoted to providing complete coordination of Phase II - IV clinical research studies. The Avera Research Institute offers professionals with experience in working with clinical trials to ensure timely enrollment of patients, strict compliance with protocols and exacting documentation.
Avera McKennan has over 600 physicians on staff representing a wide variety of medical specialties. The Avera Research Institute partners with physicians serving as principal investigators and subinvestigators to conduct clinical research with both inpatients and outpatients.
